Des with Aunt Kathy

Desmond with Aunt Kathy. Someone saw him on Kathy's lap and thought with all of his hair that he could pass for 2 or 3 yrs old. C'mon, look at that baby face.

He is enthralled by someone talking. It's weird.

Des with Aunt Beth

Desmond gets lots of kisses and laughs at his Aunt Beth's jokes (someone has to). Desmond shows off a bit for his aunt with his hand eye coordination, handling the green disk with ease.

Des With Aunt Shirl

This was 30 seconds of what was probably 2 solid hours of Desmond with his Aunt Shirley. When we got back from Maine, Desmond would act up a bit if people left the room. Let this be evidence against the prime suspect for the crime of spoiling Desmond at that lobster bake.

Des With Aunt Connie

Connie hanging with Des. Dad had to say "I just gotta warn you buddy Aunt Connie talks a lot". Connie was one of the many aunts to have their hands all over Desmond that Sunday.

Des with Grampa

Des spends some time with Grampa. We have two videos here. Lots of hugs. Desmond was interested with the woods behind my parents' house.

Des and Caitlyn

This is a really cool sequence of Des with cousin Caitlyn. Caitlyn was great all week with both Des and her baby sister under one roof. The scene is spoiled by a discussion of "Dance Moms" between Eric and Mom with snarky peanut gallery comments by Erica.

Desmond Splashes with Beth

Desmond just splashed around. Some folks suggesting switching floats so his cousin could get in the water. Didn't work; she doesn't like the water.

Des and AJ

AJ was so close to being able to walk. Desmond was just at the sitting up stage.

Desmond Outside with Mom

Mom gardens and Desmond just sits and goofs off.

Desmond Stares Food Down

Desmond follows the food. He answers his name. He also makes his grunting Frankenstein noise.

Thanks Mom for filming this like none of us will eat before watching it.

The Maniac Laughing Fit Over Nothing

He laughed at his private joke. He laughed so much I had to film him twice. I like how he would turn away then turn back to laugh.

Desmond Laughs Like a Maniac

Desmond laughed a lot the day I shook the green mirror toy at him.

Desmond Tries Chicken

Desmond tastes chicken for the first time.

Fake Coughing Fit

Desmond fakes coughs for attention. I blame the cold he caught in March from his cousin.

Tummy Time, Smiles and a Cat Sighting

Desmond overtook our female cat for cutest thing in the house. She is still upset about that.

Momma Tickles Desmond

Desmond is a bit sensitive in the tummy and chest area.

A Short Break

Here's some stats from the 6 month check up: 26 inches long (25%) and 18.95 lbs (69%).

On a personal note, sometimes life is excrutiatingly uninteresting. Sometimes it is excellent. A lot of people try to make the small things in their lives be much bigger deals than they really are. News flash: they are not. There is no need to create irrelevant conflict. Modern work is unfortunately full of people like this. No matter how unbearable work may be, when I walk through the door and see Desmond, my heart jumps. I can already feel it when I drive home and pass 62nd st. What is funny is that I arrive at his dinnertime, but I can't be within his field of vision when he eats because I distract him too much. I can't talk because he 'looks' for me. I film his little moves and toothless smiles because I want to share the little light that is Desmond with others. The highs and lows of life are different for everyone. I hope the 2 minutes of Desmond uttering gibberish, smiling at my faces, and, above all, laughing makes the lows not seem so dark and the highs that much sweeter.

We'll be posting more videos in a few days, but if you do live back 'home' you can see the little guy in the flesh. As stated in the above stats, there is plenty of flesh to hold.
